Vicarious Trauma in Responders to Mass Violence

The following trainings are available. After viewing, if you or your community are interested in additional information about a specific subject or would like assistance with customizing a webinar’s content to further your mass violence/domestic terrorism response planning, please contact the program at icp-tta@musc.edu.

Whether they are law enforcement officers coming upon the scene of a mass violence or domestic terrorism (CMV/DT) incident, victim services professionals working victims and their loved ones in the Family Assistance Center, or emergency management staff directing response efforts, vicarious trauma is an occupational risk for all CMV/DT responders. In this training, our subject matter experts will discuss the unique vicarious trauma challenges that CMV/DT incidents pose and provide strategies that organizations can enact to support their personnel and mitigate the negative effects of vicarious trauma.

We recommend all viewers watch OVC TTAC’s Introduction to the Vicarious Trauma Toolkit in addition to this training.
